Workshop:
Engaging the Learner’s Consciousness Through Sensory Fidelity An Innovative Approach.
Description:
This 60-minute workshop will explore the link between the learner’s consciousness and sensory fidelity. High-fidelity simulations aim to closely mimic real-world situations, and the degree of realism can influence how participants engage with and experience the simulated environment, potentially affecting their consciousness and perception of reality within the simulation. Incorporating the senses in simulations, especially in the context of consciousness, can create more immersive and realistic experiences.
Rochelle Quinn, MSN, RN, CHSE-A, is the Zamierowski Endowed Professor of Simulation and Nursing at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, KS. She teaches in the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) accredited Zamierowski Center for Healthcare Simulation, working with a variety of disciplines, with the primary focus on providing an immersive simulation experience for nursing students utilizing a Simulation Clinical Day format. She is a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator-Advanced (CHSE-A) with over 20 years of simulation experience, 33 years of teaching experience, 38 years as an RN with medical-surgical and intensive care background and was the Team Leader for the NCSBN National Simulation Study.
Rochelle received her associate and bachelor’s degrees from the College of Saint Mary in Omaha, NE and a Master of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Iowa. She has also completed courses in simulation training at The Institute for Medical Simulation, Center for Medical Simulation, Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology and the Israel MSR Train the Trainer and Assessment Courses. Rochelle is certified in the NCSBN Debriefing for Meaningful Learning. She is a MSR Train the Trainer Faculty and has also been a faculty member for the CSM Gateway (Debriefing with Good Judgment) course. Rochelle is the chair for the annual Kansas City Healthcare Simulation Conference and sits on the Board of Directors, as the Vice President, for the Kansas City Regional Simulation Alliance (KCRSA). She is a member of the National League of Nursing (NLN), SSH, and the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL).
