Spring Simulation Summit – Presentations
Making Virtual Reality a Reality for Your Simulation Program: An Innovative Approach.
Description:
With limited resources, an innovated approach to utilization of Virtual Reality (VR) was implemented within the Registered Nursing Program at JCCC. This presentation will cover the process of integrating this new technology while adhering to the INACSL HSSOBP™. In addition, the presentation will also cover the fears of jumping into rapidly changing VR technology, costs associated with committing to the product, and how to fit within an established simulation curriculum.
Presenters: Rochelle Quinn & Tim Laughlin – Johnson County Community College
Audiovisual Quest! Troubleshooting and Solutions for AV Technology in Simulation Operations
Course Overview:
Join an engaging Audiovisual Quest! to identify solutions and troubleshoot common AV problems in simulation operations. Expand your audiovisual knowledge and utilization of AV technology. Advance your knowledge of troubleshooting processes and the identification of back-up options in preparation of simulations.
Learning Objectives:
#1: Discuss basic knowledge and terminology for the utilization of AV technology in simulation operations.
#2 Construct solutions to common AV problems in simulation operations using readily accessible resources.
#3: Apply knowledge and troubleshooting strategies to solve common AV problems in simulation operations.
Presenters:
Amy Follmer, CHSOS-A, CHSE, FSSH
Kyle Sweitzer, CTS-I
Low Fidelity for High Impact Mindshift.
Course Overview:
This presentation will share the impact of The Opioid Simulation, a low fidelity tabletop Simulation that creates a brief lived experience of individuals with Opiod Use Disorder (OUD), which is estimated to occur in over 2 million individuals in the US alone.
Facilitating understanding of OUD as a chronic relapsing disease for which there is treatment and recovery, highlighting the impact of resiliency and stigma on individuals navigating OUD has shown a significant impact on the mindshift of current and future healthcare professionals.
Presenter:
Melanie Stroda
Title: Scholarly Writing for the Curious, Confident, or Intimidated Sim Professional
Course Overview:
This workshop is designed to help you make concrete progress on your scholarly writing. Whether you have never written or submitted an abstract or you’ve published a dozen papers, this workshop is designed to cultivate your engagement in the
scholarly process. We will: 1) mine your experience for ideas worth sharing, and 2) tackle some of your biggest barriers to scholarly writing.
